UP Police Constable Entry Paper 'Leaked'? Here's What We Know So Far

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has clarified that there have been no leaks related to the examination papers for the 2024 Uttar Pradesh constable examination.

This examination on Saturday (17 February) for filling 60,244 constable vacancies, attracted around 48 lakh candidates from all across Uttar Pradesh.

Despite rumours circulating on X (previously known as Twitter) about a potential paper leak, the board said that some miscreants are exploiting Telegram's edit feature to create and spread false information regarding a leak, causing confusion on social media.

“Initial investigations have found that miscreants are using Telegram's edit feature to cheat and spread confusion about a paper leak on social media. The board and UP Police are monitoring these incidents and conducting a thorough investigation into their sources. The examination is continuing safely and smoothly," the board said on Sunday (18 February).

The board's response came amid widespread speculation on social media platforms about the supposed leak of the 17 February exam paper. Social media users have been claiming and sharing screenshots of alleged foul play.

"The Board is always committed to maintaining the transparency and purity of each of its examinations. After the successful completion of the examination on a large scale, the unverified news being trended will be thoroughly verified by the Board with the help of @uppolice. Candidates can rest assured," it added.

UP Police has taken significant action by arresting or detaining 244 individuals between 15 February and 18 February, suspected of attempting to cheat in the constable exam.

These operations, carried out by both the district police and the Special Task Force (STF) with assistance from local intelligence, led to the apprehension of these suspects before and during the exam dates of 17 and 18 February.

"The arrested or detained accused are being interrogated after registering an FIR against them. People and gangs involved in adopting unfair means (in exams) will be caught and strict action will be taken against them," Uttar Pradesh police chief Prashant Kumar said.
