Within 45 days of the paper leak in the Uttar Pradesh Constable Recruitment Examination, the mastermind Rajeev Nayan Mishra was arrested by UP Police from Greater Noida on Wednesday (3 April) morning.
The arrest was made by Special Task Force's (STF) Meerut unit on the tip of an informer. Rajeev is known to have orchestrated paper leaks earlier as well and even faced jail previously.
The accused hails from Prayagraj and was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B.
The interrogation revealed that Rajeev disclosed paper at a resort in Rewa along with Gurgaon with the help of his gang.
Earlier, he went to jail in Gwalior for an NHM scam and was also arrested in the UP TET paper leak in Kaushambi, Live Hindustan reported.
Rajeev is known to have orchestrated the leak by accessing the question papers at the warehouse of Ahmedabad-based TCI company, where the paper was sent for printing.
TCI was tasked to deliver the printed papers safely to UP. However, its two workers Shivam and Rohit Pandey and a former worker Abhishek colluded with the the accused to leak the paper. All three were arrested.
Dr Shubham Mandal, who opened the sealed boxes on the directions of the accused, was arrested on Saturday. He revealed that Ravi Atri and Rajeev Nayan Mishra are the masterminds of the paper leak.
The exam scheduled for 17 and 18 February was canceled over reports of paper leak and the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pledged to conduct re-examination within the next 6 months.
On 25 February, he said, "If the recruitment process is compromised, it forces talent migration... We have a zero-tolerance policy against those who play with youth's future."
"The government has initiated its action... Now they will neither be of ghar, nor ghat (unable to find haven anywhere). The action against these elements will be such that it becomes an example," Adityanath said.
