US NSA Jake Sullivan Meets Ajit Doval, Reviews Technology Collaboration Under iCET

US National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan met India's newly appointed NSA, Ajit Doval.

Sullivan is on a two-day visit to India and is accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking government officials. During the meeting, both NSAs are expected to discuss a wide range of regional and global issues, including the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET).

The iCET was launched when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the QUAD Summit in Tokyo on 24 May 2022.

Under the iCET, India and the US are to collaborate in developing high-tech and new and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, biotechnology, critical and rare earth minerals, space, and advanced telecommunications, etc.

Both NSAs will also chair the first annual review meeting of the iCET.

Sullivan met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar earlier and is expected to meet PM Modi.

This is the first meeting of NSA Sullivan just two weeks after Prime Minister Modi's new government took charge for the third straight time.

PM Modi met President Biden just days ago on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Italy. Both NSAs will also discuss China's expansionist agenda and ways to counter it.

It is reported that a high-ranking US delegation comprising Speaker of US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi is also scheduled to arrive in India where they are expected to meet Dalai Lama to press on the Chinese pain point of Tibet.
