As voting concluded for the seventh and final phase in Uttar Pradesh, the exit poll numbers for the five states that went to polls started coming in. These five states are: Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

A look at the exit polls suggests that the BJP is set to return to power in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh assembly has 403 assembly segments with a majority at 202.

The India Today Axis My India exit poll is predicting a repeat of 2017 numbers for the BJP. According to this exit poll, the BJP alliance is projected to get 288-326 seats; the SP alliance, 71-101; the BSP 3-9 and the Congress, 1-3.

The projected vote shares are 46 per cent for the BJP alliance; 36 per cent for the SP alliance; 12 per cent for the BSP and 3 per cent for the Congress.

The Jan Ki Baat exit poll projected 222-260 seats for the BJP alliance; 135-165 seats for the SP alliance; 4-9 for the BSP and 1-3 for the Congress. The projected vote shares for this survey were: 40-42 per cent for the BJP alliance; 34-36 per cent for the SP alliance; 13-16 per cent for the BSP and 4-6 per cent for the Congress.
