A day after Tamil film actor Vijay took a stance opposing the NEET exam and used the term 'Ondriya Arasu' to refer to the central government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu state president, K Annamalai, stated that Vijay going the DMK route was helpful to his party.
"With all parties here against NEET and using terms like 'Ondriya Arasu', we would be the ones who stand out," he said.
(BJP members and supporters oppose the use of Ondriya Arasu as they feel the term is to be used to describe a 'block level panchayat.')
Criticising the DMK government over its stance on NEET, Annamalai said that instead of passing resolutions seeking exemption from the exam, it would be better if it brought out a white paper that would show how many students from which backgrounds had got into government medical colleges before and after the introduction of the exam.
"The numbers will tell you the real story," he said.
