At the ongoing BRICS Summit 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed the Indian flag placed on the ground (to mark a person's standing position) while taking a group photo.

The Prime Minister gently picked up the flag and decided to keep it. Seeing this, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also decided to follow suit and held his country's flag. This action highlighted respect for their respective nations and added a meaningful moment to the event.

On Tuesday (22 August), Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in South Africa for a three-day official visit. During this time, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the 15th BRICS summit and engage in one-on-one discussions with several global leaders.

Ahead of the summit, in his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi expressed anticipation for having individual discussions with certain leaders attending the Johannesburg event.

He also expressed his enthusiasm for engaging with various invited guest countries during the event.
