National Conference (NC) leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah criticised the Narendra Modi government for not holding talks with Pakistan and suggested India may meet the "same fate as Gaza and Palestine."
Talking to reporters on Tuesday (26 December), he said, "I have always said what (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee ji said that we can change our friends but not our neighbours. If we remain friendly with our neighbours, both will progress. We can't move forward with enmity."
Citing Prime Minister Modi's statement that "war is not an option now and the matters should be resolved through dialogue", Abdullah questioned, "Where is that dialogue? Nawaz Sharif is about to become the PM (of Pakistan) and he saying that we are ready to talk (with India), but what is the reason we are not ready to talk?"
He added, "If we do not find a solution through dialogue, we will meet the same fate as Gaza and Palest.ine, which are being bombed by Israel"
