In a significant continuation of his winning streak, on Monday (03 June), chess prodigy R Praggnanandhaa has defeated world champion Ding Liren in the armageddon game at the Norway chess tournament.

Thisn victory comes in the aftermath of Praggnanandhaa's stellar performance against renowned players such as Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana as per a report by The Times Of India.

Despite managing a stalemate initially, Ding Liren failed in the important armageddon game paving the way for Praggnanandhaa to clinch another crucial victory.

In another closely fought match, Hikaru Nakamura came closer to the tournament leader Magnus Carlsen, and secured his win in an armageddon game on time, thus minimising the gap just to half a point behind Carlsen.

In the women's edition, Anna Muzychuk came out as the foremost player and also became the first player to have won a mini-match against the Women's world champion, Ju Wenjun, leading her to emerge as top leader.

R Vaishali's hopes for the top place however faced a significant reversal as she faced defeat in classical game to Koneru Humpy.
