Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath has changed the district in-charges of all 75 districts and given responsibilities to all ministers in his government in preparation for the 2027 assembly elections.

DNA reported that the ministers were informed about the changes through letters and have been directed to spend nights in their respective districts to maintain a government presence among the people.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak has been given the responsibility of Lucknow, while another Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, who showed signs of rebellion a few months ago, has been appointed in his home district Kaushambi.

The decision comes as a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) initiatives to reform the organisation after the losses in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where it could win only 33 seats, down from 62 in 2019.

Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has been freed from his responsibilities in Ayodhya and Azamgarh districts, the BJP lost in both constituencies and was appointed in Sant Kabir Nagar.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will continue to oversee CM Adityanath's home district Gorakhpur, along with an additional responsibility of Ambedkar Nagar, where too, the BJP lost.

Women Welfare Minister Baby Rani Maurya will now oversee Bulandshahr-Shamli instead of Jhansi and Kanpur Dehat. Sugarcane Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary will now be in charge of Meerut-Baghpat instead of Aligarh-Etawah.

Animal Husbandry Minister Dharmpal Singh will now oversee Lakhimpur Kheri-Shravasti districts instead of Meerut-Sambhal. Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi has been assigned Chandauli instead of Kanpur Nagar, while Mirzapur remains under his purview.

Labor Minister Anil Rajbhar will work on strengthening the party in Azamgarh-Kushinagar instead of Gonda-Mau. MSME Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma has been given the responsibility of Basti and Maharajganj instead of Agra and Siddharthnagar.

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay will now be responsible for Jhansi-Kasganj instead of Saharanpur-Farrukhabad. Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel will now be in charge of Farrukhabad-Kannauj instead of Bahraich-Auraiya.

NISHAD Party chief Sanjay Nishad has been tasked with handling Kaushambi and Siddharthnagar districts instead of Bahraich and Auraiya. SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar has been assigned Deoria and Bhadohi districts.

Prison Department Minister Dara Singh Chauhan has been given the charge of Fatehpur and Ballia. Sunil Kumar Sharma has been assigned Aligarh and Firozabad, while Anil Kumar will be responsible for Amroha-Chitrakoot.

Sandeep Singh, the grandson of former CM Kalyan Singh and Minister of Basic Education, will now oversee Auraiya-Mainpuri instead of Mathura-Kasganj.
