Yogi Adityanath Visits Ayodhya For First Time After Faizabad Loss, Unveils Statue Of Saint Who Played Role In Ram Mandir Movement

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Ayodhya for the first time since the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) loss in the Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, Ayodhya is a part of which.

The visit comes after the UP CM took it upon himself to win the Milkipur assembly constituency in the Ayodhya district, which was vacated by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Awadhesh Prasad.

Milkipur is among the 10 assembly seats set for the bypolls in the state as it was vacated due to the election of Prasad to the Lok Sabha from Faizabad.

During his visit to Ayodhya, Adityanath went to Ram Janmabhoomi temple and did aarti there. He also met Hindu saints and seers in the holy city on Tuesday.

On Wednesday (7 August), he unveiled the statue of the revered saint, late Mahant Paramhans Ramchandra Das Ji Maharaj and addressed a gathering on the occasion.

Ramchandra Das is a saint from Digambar Akhada and played an important role in the Ram Mandir movement. Born in Bihar, the saint passed away in 2003.

Later in the day, Adityanath is set to go to Ambedkar Nagar, another Lok Sabha constituency the BJP lost. Here, Katehari assembly seat was vacated by SP's Lalji Verma after winning the Lok Sabha election.

The UP CM has also taken the responsibility to win this seat. The party is yet to choose its candidates on the two seats, while the SP is planning to give tickets to relatives of the leaders who vacated the seats.
