Yogi Government's Crackdown On 'Corrupt', 'Negligent' Cops: 30 Policemen Including Seven Sub-Inspectors Suspended In Agra

In a big crackdown on 'corrupt' and 'negligent' cops, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has suspended 30 policemen including seven Sub-Inspectors in Agra.

Sixteen of these personnel were accused of demanding bribes for providing passport verification reports.

The remaining officers faced allegations of collusion with gamblers, negligence in judicial work, and investigative negligence.

Among the suspended personnel, five were from the cyber cell and were accused of factionalism.

The Police Commissioner’s Feedback Cell identified these police personnel.

The suspension, which occurred on Wednesday night, caused a stir within the department.

Police Commissioner J Ravinder Goud had implemented the Beat Police Officer (BPO) system before the elections, directing BPOs not to accept bribes for passport verification reports or character certificates.

The Feedback Cell was established to monitor the working of BPOs and inspectors.

Police personnel deployed in the cell contacted applicants and victims to gather feedback.

In the Feedback Cell's report, 16 police personnel were implicated in demanding bribes for passport verification reports.

The cell sent its report to DCP Suraj Kumar Rai, who then suspended the 16 police personnel.

This group included four inspectors (two of whom were trainees), one female constable, one head constable, and ten other constables.

Additionally, five police personnel, including one sub inspector, were suspended in connection with an assault on an auto driver in Chatta.

Five personnel from the cyber cell were suspended due to factionalism.

Complaints of internal factionalism within the Cyber Cell reached the senior officials. There were allegations that some personnel of the cells were engaging in factionalism and maintaining ties with a notorious gangster.

An investigation confirmed these allegations, resulting in the suspension of five police personnel.

Further, a constable stationed at Hariparvat police station was suspended after a video of him demanding money circulated on social media.

One constable from ACP Kotwali's court was suspended for negligence in judicial work, and two police personnel were suspended for negligence in investigation duties.
