Zee Studios, the co-producers of Nayanthara's latest film "Annapoorani," have issued a formal apology to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in response to widespread criticism and a filed FIR by the Hindu Seva Parishad in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

The film, initially premiered on Netflix, faced severe backlash for its alleged misrepresentation of Hinduism and accusations of promoting Love Jihad.

In their official letter of apology, Zee Studios expressed deep regret for inadvertently hurting religious sentiments and confirmed the immediate removal of "Annapoorani" from the Netflix platform.

Additionally, the production company committed to editing out specific scenes that were identified as offensive to Hindu beliefs.

As a result, the film is no longer available for streaming on Netflix, reported Cine Express.

Directed by Nilesh Krishnaa, a former assistant of renowned director Shankar, "Annapoorani" narrates the journey of a Hindu girl striving to become a chef while grappling with challenges tied to her family's religious practices.

Certain scenes, such as the mispronunciation of a sloka from the Ramayana and the depiction of the lead character offering Namaz before cooking Biryani, sparked controversy.

The contentious nature of these scenes led to accusations of Love Jihad, particularly in the portrayal of the relationship between the characters Farhaan (Jai) and Annapoorani.

Notably, the film is hailed as Nayanthara's 75th milestone project.

Trident Arts, in collaboration with Zee Studios, had supported the film, featuring a star-studded cast including Achyuth Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, Sathyaraj, and Karthik Kumar.
