In an official statement on the raids conducted at the premises of senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader K Ponmudy and his son P Gautham Sigamani, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) stated that it has seized Rs 81.7 lakh in Indian currency, British Pounds worth approximately Rs 13 lakh and frozen fixed deposits worth Rs 41.9 crore.
The statement comes a day after the raids. Ponmudy is being questioned by the ED for the second time today (18 July). He had returned home early this morning after the first round of questioning.
During the searches, various incriminating documents, cash amounting to Rs. 81.7 lakh, foreign currency (British pounds) equivalent to approx. Rs. 13 lakhs was seized and Fixed Deposits of Rs.41.9 Crore have been freezed.
