The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is planning to conduct public discussions nationwide to seek public opinion on the question, "Should Kejriwal resign or govern from jail?," Indian Express reported.

This decision to hold a referendum in Delhi and across the country was made during a 1.5-hour discussion between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP's municipal councillors, regarding the ED summons issued to him in connection with the excise policy case. This meeting followed a similar one he held with party MLAs the previous day.

AAP MLA and MCD in-charge, Durgesh Pathak, explained, "AAP councillors and MLAs will launch a nationwide campaign and conduct a referendum... They will visit every household to engage in dialogues with citizens. We will travel across the national capital and hold street discussions to gather opinions on whether the CM should resign or continue governing from Tihar Jail."

Pathak mentioned that both the councillors and MLAs made the same request, which is that Kejriwal should continue leading the government even if he is arrested.

"All councillors urged the CM not to consider resigning. If the Modi government's ED dares to arrest the CM, then he must continue governing from jail," he said.

He added, "After the councillors' request for him not to resign, the CM stated that he would first convene a meeting with AAP leaders in Punjab, following which he will make a decision on this matter."
