BJP Appoints Observers For Chief Minister Selection In Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh; List Here

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (8 December) appointed central observers to oversee the selection of leaders for its legislature parties in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.

The announcement coincides with indications suggesting that the appointment of new chief ministers is likely to occur over the weekend, according to India Today.

The observers designated for Rajasthan include Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Vinod Tawade, and Saroj Pandey. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, K Laxman, and Asha Lakra have been appointed as observers for Madhya Pradesh. For Chhattisgarh, Union Ministers Arjun Munda, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Dushyant Gautam will take on the role of observers.

A senior party official informed the news agency PTI on Thursday that after being appointed, the observers would travel to their designated states to supervise the meetings of recently elected MLAs, during which the future chief ministers would be identified.

The official also clarified that as of now, no decision had been finalised regarding the chief minister selections. He emphasised that the party would carefully consider social, regional, governance, and organisational factors in choosing the three chief ministers.

Leaders from the three states have been engaging with top party leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda. However, sources downplayed the significance of these meetings, labeling them as routine.
