Union Health Ministry updated data on Thursday, revealing a concerning rise in coronavirus cases.
The country reported 10,158 new infections in a single day, marking the highest daily increase in almost eight months. The active caseload has now climbed to 44,998, as per the latest data.
Just the day before, India had reported a seven-month high of 7,830 infections, indicating a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases.
The daily positivity rate stands at 4.42 per cent, with the weekly positivity rate at 4.02 per cent. However, active cases constitute only 0.10 per cent of the total infections.
The nationwide Covid-19 recovery rate has been reported at 98.71 per cent by the Health Ministry website. The case fatality rate, on the other hand, stands at 1.19 per cent. As many as 4,42,10,127 people have recovered from the disease.
On Wednesday, Maharashtra and Delhi had reported over 1,000 daily cases for the first time this year.
"Must use reusable cloth face cover/surgical mask in the workplace. Ensure proper cleaning and frequent sanitation of the workplace, particularly of the frequently touched surfaces," the AIIMS management said in an advisory on Wednesday.
So far, a whopping 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine has been administered in the country, according to the government data.
