After laying the foundation stone of the Petrochemical Complex at Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (14 September), Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the opposition alliance calling it a 'Ghamandiya Gathbandhan’.

The opposition bloc has named itself Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance abbreviated as I.N.D.I.A. which rhymes with 'Ghamandiya' (arrogant) and many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have used this term to target the alliance.

Modi further said, "These people (opposition parties) want to destroy Sanatana Dharma and now they have started saying it openly, attacking openly."

The PM's statement was referencing Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader and the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Udayanidhi Stalin who asked for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma.

"There are some parties that are trying to divide the country and society. Together they have formed an alliance. Their leader is not decided, there is confusion over leadership," Modi further targeted the INDIA bloc.

"The INDIA alliance's agenda revolves around tarnishing India's image, its rich culture, traditions, and core identity," the PM asserted.

Stating that Sanatana Dharma gave inspiration to Swami Vivekananda and Lokmanya Tilak, Modi said, "All 'Sanatanis across the country and the people who love our country will have to be alert. We will have to stop such people. (opposition)".
