Gyanvapi Complex Row: Varanasi Court Gives 10 More Days To ASI For Submitting Scientific Survey Report

The Varanasi district court on Saturday (18 November) extended the deadline for the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to present its scientific survey report of the Gyanvapi complex by an additional 10 days.

Initially, the ASI had until November 17 to submit the report; however, on Friday, its counsel requested a 15-day extension from the court. The reason cited for the extension was the unavailability of the technical report, as mentioned by Madan Mohan Yadav, counsel for the Hindu side.

During the hearing on Saturday, District Judge A K Vishvesh instructed the ASI to provide its report by 28 November, The Hindu reported.

Earlier, on 2 November, the ASI informed the court that the survey was "completed," but additional time was needed to compile the report, including details of the equipment used in the survey work. Subsequently, the court granted an extension until 17 November for the submission of the document.

On 5 October, the court had initially given the ASI four more weeks, specifying that the survey duration would not be extended beyond that period.
