Gyanvapi Row: Varanasi Court Grants Another 10 Days To Archaeological Survey To Submit Scientific Survey Report

The Varanasi court on Thursday (30 November) granted an additional 10 days to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conclude the Gyanvapi survey and submit its report, as stated by Hindu side counsel Madan Mohan Yadav.

According to Hindustan Times, The order was issued by District Judge Ajaya Krishna Vishvesha in response to ASI's request for a three-week extension to submit the Gyanvapi survey report, filed on 28 November.

"After considering all the facts, I find it appropriate to extend 10 more days to the ASI to file the report in court. This court expects that within the provided time, the ASI shall positively file the report and will not seek further time," quoted Judge Ajaya Krishna Vishvesha, as stated by standing government counsel Amit Kumar, who filed the plea on behalf of the ASI.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for 11 December. The ASI began the survey in the barricaded area of the Gyanvapi mosque premises on 4 August, following court orders.

On 2 November, the ASI informed the court that it had "completed" the survey but required additional time to compile the report, including details of the survey equipment used.

The court initially granted an extension until 17 November and later set a new deadline for submission by 28 November. The ASI is conducting a scientific survey of the Gyanvapi premises to determine if the 17th-century mosque was built over a pre-existing Hindu temple structure, located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.
