Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced on Tuesday (5 December) that Revanth Reddy will be the new Chief Minister of Telangana after the party secured a majority in the recently held state elections.
Venugopal said, "Congress President has decided to go with Revanth Reddy as the new CLP of Telangana Legislative Party." Reddy is the Pradesh Congress Committee President as well.
Praising Reddy's leadership, Venugopal said, "Reddy is a dynamic leader who campaigned in this election extensively with other senior leaders."
ANI reported that the swearing-in ceremony of the new Telangana CM will be held on 7 December. Reportedly, there are considerations for appointing one or two deputy chief ministers to strike a caste balance.
