Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Kochi this evening (24 April) to begin his two-day visit to the state.
His itinerary in Kochi would include a roadshow on a 1.8-kilometre stretch from Thevara Junction to the Sacred Heart College ground, where he would address a youth conference titled 'YUVAM'.
The conference is being organised by a group called Vibrant Youth For Modifying Kerala (VYMK).
After the conference, he would have a meeting with Church leaders of various Christian denominations.
The meeting is seen as politically significant because the BJP of late has been making efforts to reach out to the community and induct their leaders into the party.
He would leave for Thiruvananthapuram the next day where he would inaugurate the Vande Bharat Express connecting the state capital to Kasaragod, the Kochi Water Metro and other infrastructure projects.
Meanwhile, the Kerala police have arrested a man named Xavier for writing a letter threatening a suicide attack during PM Modi's visit.
The state police as well as the Intelligence Bureau are investigating the alleged leak of a 49-page circular containing the details of the Prime Minister's security.
