Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is headed for a massive victory in Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, with the party maintaining leads on 150 seats, according to the Election Commission.
Congress is trailing with leads on 95 seats, the early trends suggest.
BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leading from Budhni seat. Congress candidate Vikram Mastal Sharma is trailing from the seat by over 21,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Congress leader and former state CM Kamal Nath is leading the BJP candidate in Chhindwara by over 8,500 seats.
Both the Congress and the BJP on Saturday claimed they will emerge victorious in the assembly elections.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan claimed his party would retain power with a “huge majority”, while state Congress chief Kamal Nath said he had “complete confidence” in the voters of the state.
