The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Sunday (15 October) unveiled its fourth list of 31 candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly polls scheduled for 17 November. The Mayawati-led party has now declared a total of 74 candidates for the 230-member House.

The latest list features candidates for assembly seats across various districts, including Chhatarpur, Shivpuri, Sagar, Rewa, Singrauli, Katni, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Khandwa, Rajgarh, Raisen, Khargone, Dhar, Alirajpur, Dewas, Indore, Jhabua, Neemuch, Ratlam, Ujjain, and Shajapur.

In the 2018 assembly polls, the BSP secured two seats in Madhya Pradesh. However, one of its MLAs later joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The lone BSP MLA, Rambai Singh Parihar, is seeking re-election from the Patharia seat in Damoh district, Business Standard reported.

Additionally, the BSP and the Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) have formed an alliance for the upcoming assembly polls. As part of this alliance, the BSP intends to contest 178 seats, while the GGP plans to field candidates in 52 seats.

The GGP, originally established as a tribal outfit in the then-undivided Madhya Pradesh, had its best performance in 2003 when it won three assembly seats.
