There was a heated exchange between the ruling party and the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Thursday (9 November) during a debate on increasing reservation. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), Jitan Ram Manjhi, got into a heated argument.
When Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the caste census work had not been done properly, Nitish Kumar responded by saying that Manjhi had no idea what he was talking about. The Bihar CM further stated angrily that Manjhi now wants to become the Governor, according to Jagran.
The people of the ruling party, even Tejashwi Yadav, tried to stop Nitish Kumar, but he did not stop. Nitish Kumar came in a rage and said that it was because of his own foolishness that Manjhi became the CM. Nitish Kumar also used harsh language for Manjhi.
Notably, Nitish Kumar appointed Manjhi as Bihar CM in 2014, a few months before the Lok Sabha elections. However, Kumar demanded Manjhi's resignation after a few months, which he denied and was expelled from JD(U) over this.
Manjhi then established his own party HAM which is now a part of the BJP-led NDA. The former Bihar CM responded to today's incident by saying that Kumar is four years older than him and hence, he is respecting the limits.
"He became MLA in 1985, while I have been a legislator since 1980. In regards to becoming the governor, that it is a wrong thing to say. I am a Dalit, that's why he is making fun of me," Manjhi alleged.
