As Israel announced a "state of war" following a rocket attack by the Hamas terrorists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with the country on Saturday (7 October).

Calling the attack by Hamas militants in Palestine "terrorist attacks", Modi prayed for innocent victims and their families.

"Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour," he posted on X.

According to the reports, more than 5,000 rockets were launched towards Israel on a festive holiday morning as loud sirens blared across the country.

Visuals from Israel reportedly showed that paragliders were used in the attack. The Israeli defense forces have also raised concerns about an alleged infiltration by Hamas terrorists.

This recent outbreak of violence represents a significant escalation in geopolitics in recent years following Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year.
