The Election Commission of India revised the schedule of Rajasthan assembly election on Wednesday (11 October). Now the voting will take place on 25 November, instead of the earlier announced date of 23 November.

The change has been done by keeping the local festivals in mind as 23 November coincided with Devuthani Ekadashi. This day also witnesses many Hindu marriages.

In an official announcement, the ECI stated that it had received requests from numerous political parties and social organisations to alter the polling schedule. This adjustment is proposed to accommodate a significant number of weddings and social engagements on that particular day, with the aim of avoiding inconvenience for a large segment of the population.

The voting for all 200 assembly seats will take place in a single phase and the counting will be done on 3 December along with the other four states going to polls in November.

The last date for making nominations is 6 November and the candidature can be withdrawn till 9 November. Till now, only the BJP has released a list of candidates with 41 names.

The state is currently being ruled by the Congress with Ashok Gehlot as the Chief Minister. Rajasthan follows a trend of changing government every five years, giving hope to the opposition BJP.

Here neither of the parties has announced a CM face. While the Congress is promoting welfare schemes to win the trust of the voters, the BJP is busy highlighting the bad state of law and order, especially concerning crimes against women.
