In February of this year, the Punjab Police issued a warning to the Rajasthan Police regarding a murder plot against the chief of Karni Sena, orchestrated by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Indian Express reported.

The president of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, was tragically murdered in Jaipur on Tuesday (5 December). The responsibility for this heinous act was claimed by Rohit Godara, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with the incident being recorded on CCTV.

According to insiders within the Punjab police, the Special Deputy General of Police, responsible for internal security, has forwarded a letter to the Additional Deputy General of Police of the Special Task Force in Rajasthan.

Simultaneously, the Anti-Terrorism Squad has also dispatched a warning to the Additional Director General of intelligence, alerting them about a potential attack on Gogamedi.

The Indian Express possesses a copy of a note from the Punjab police that reads: "According to an input, notorious gangster, Sampat Nehra, a member of the Bishnoi gang currently detained in Central Jail, Bathinda, reportedly intends to assassinate Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the leader of the Rajput community organisation known as 'Shree Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena'. His alleged aim is to trigger religiously-driven unrest in the state of Rajasthan.

The information obtained additionally indicated that Sampat Nehra had organised the acquisition of an AK-47, intending to complete the mission via his external associates.

High-ranking officers from the Punjab police have reported that they are working diligently to break down the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This effort is being carried out in cooperation with central agencies and state governments.

The authorities have apprehended 29 members of a gang implicated in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala last June, and two gangsters have lost their lives in a confrontation.

An officer from the Anti-Gang Task Force, under the leadership of Promod Ban, has reported the arrest of around 70 members of the Lawrence gang. The team is currently working to apprehend Lawrence Bishnoi's handler, conducting tracking operations stretching from Azerbaijan to India.
