A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud today (18 May) stayed the West Bengal government's ban on the film 'The Kerala Story' and ordered the Tamil Nadu government to ensure all security arrangements for the safe screening of the movie.

It said that the government is obligated to maintain law and order as the film has been certified by the Central Board of Film Certfication (CBFC).

Further, it ordered the film-makers to add a disclaimer saying that it represents a fictionalised account of the events and they did not have authentic data to back up the claim of 32000 (or any other figure) women being converted and forced to join ISIS.

Regarding the petition challenging the certification given by CBFC, the bench said that it should be listed in July as it would have to watch the film first.
