An audio clip of 'goons' belonging to the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) threatening a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has gone viral on social media.
The conversation happened after the CRPF jawan had made a video condemning the separatist remarks made by VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan, at a book release event in Chennai.
During the event, Thirumavalavan had said, “VCK made a significant contribution to Tamil national movements. It has made possible what the major political parties could not. It cannot be called Tamil nationalism if you work under the Indian Central government and speak about Tamil nationalism. The ultimate goal of Tamil nationalism should be the establishment of a separate country known as Tamil Nadu.”
Condemning the separatist remarks, the CRPF jawan had said that while soldiers like him were serving to keep the country united, here was a person (Thirumavalavan) who was trying to separate the country.
He said that this separatist mentality will not stop at the creation of a separate Tamil Nadu and next step would be to demand each district to be made into a country.
He further added that patriotic soldiers serving the country would not keep quiet, when the powers that be, keep quiet on separatist remarks made under the garb of free speech.
He dared Thirumavalavan to come to the streets and protest for a separate Tamil Nadu and said that they (VCK) would be taught a lesson by the Indian Army who would make them say Jai Hind and Vande Mataram.
In the expletive laden phone conversation, targeting the jawan’s family, one of the goons had said, “You may be in Delhi. Your mother, father and siblings are here in Tamil Nadu only, right?”
Another person said, “Who are you to speak against my leader? I will take the pulp out of you. I will kill you. I will come to the border and bomb you.”
The CRPF jawan replied, “Brother, I won’t be afraid even if Pakistanis stand with a tanker in front of me. You are calling from there and asking me to apologize? Silly!”
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president, K Annamalai tweeted that he spoke to the jawan over phone and said that the BJP would always support the soldiers who are guarding the nation.
