Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the creators of "The Vaccine War" on Thursday (5 October), expressing that the film has instilled a sense of pride in every Indian.
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the movie, released in theaters on 28 September, narrates the true story of Indian scientists and their relentless battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. The film highlights their achievement in developing an affordable vaccine for India and the global community.
During a rally in Jodhpur, PM Modi stated, "A film called 'The Vaccine War' was released. I have heard that the hard work done day and night by our scientists to fight Covid in India has been depicted in this film. Every Indian is feeling proud after watching that film."
The prime minister also applauded the filmmakers for highlighting the contributions of the country's scientists. "I also congratulate the makers of this film that you gave importance to the scientists and science of the country by making the film. This will be very useful for the coming generations," PM Modi remarked.
Vivek Agnihotri, renowned for directing films like "Hate Story," "Chocolate," "The Tashkent Files," and "The Kashmir Files," expressed gratitude to the prime minister for recognizing "The Vaccine War."
In a post on X, he wrote, "It's heartening to hear PM @narendramodi acknowledge the contribution of Indian scientists, especially women scientists in making the indigenous vaccine under his leadership. Women scientists called and got emotional 'first time a PM praised Virologists' they said. Gratitude."
Produced by Pallavi Joshi under their banner I Am Buddha, the film features Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Sapthami Gowda, and Joshi.
