A 20-year-old pregnant woman has alleged that her father-in-law raped her in the absence of her husband. Shockingly, her husband refused to accept her after the incident citing Shariat law, India TV reported.

The said incident is of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar where the husband not only refused to keep her with him but also said that he no longer considers her his wife.

A complaint has been filed by the woman against her father-in-law, husband, and mother-in-law at the local police station. She claims that her husband threw her out of their home, stating that she had become his father's wife and his mother after their relationship.

The police have taken action by registering a case against the accused father-in-law, Istekhar, under sections 376, 323, and 506, and have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

The victim, Tabassum claimed that her father-in-law, had been casting malicious intentions towards her ever since she got married in August 2022.

On 5 July 2023, while her husband, Mudassir, took his mother to see a healer in Meerapur, her father-in-law took advantage of the situation and forcefully raped her. He even threatened to harm her if she dared to report the incident to anyone.

Upon the return of her mother-in-law and husband later that evening, Tabassum bravely shared the entire incident with them. However, instead of supporting her, Mudassir decided to disown his wife, declaring that she no longer had any relationship with him.

He argued that since his father had established a relationship with her, she had become his father's wife and his mother, making it impossible for him to continue their marriage. To make matters worse, both the mother-in-law and husband physically assaulted Tabassum before forcibly evicting her from their house.

However, the victim's in-laws have claimed that these allegations are baseless and the woman is doing so only to extract a hefty amount from them.
