In statements that are being perceived by political commentators as being directed at the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai said that he would not stop at exposing the corruption of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) but would do the same for corrupt leaders in every political party that has ruled Tamil Nadu.
Further, he said that exposing the corrupt leaders in parties other than the DMK is important because the fight against corruption cannot be selective.
He then said that he was not here to bend his back and work in an alliance to get a few seats for himself and his party but to do clean politics and fight corruption.
In what sounded like a warning to the AIADMK, he said that if anyone wants to remove him from his position as state president, let them go to Delhi and try but he would not change his stance because this is the kind of politics both he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi believe in.
A tussle has been going on between the alliance partners since BJP leaders like IT Wing head CTR Nirmal Kumar and state secretary Dilip Kannan left the party citing problems with the state leadership, especially Annamalai and were welcomed into the party by Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS).
