Dear Reader,

The surprising results of Haryana elections have breathed new life into the BJP, its cadres, and its supporters. The victory seems to have given the party some of its electoral mojo back ahead of the crucial Maharashtra polls.

On the other hand, it has jolted Congress more than expected. The party is yet to come to terms with its loss. While Bhupinder Hooda was seen in tears and Rahul Gandhi was absent, the party leadership including Jairam Ramesh engaged in the usual institution-bashing and blaming the EVMs. Seems the EVMs didn't function well in Haryana but were at their best in Jammu & Kashmir.

Now that the pollsters, analysts, media, and parties - all got it wrong, some post-poll dissection is warranted.

Our weekend magazine 'Haryana 2024: Congress' Panipat' covers some very good pieces analysing this election.

  • The inside story of BJP's impossible win.

  • Key takeaways and questions that the results leave us with.

  • Where do the exit polls fail?

  • Mistakes that Congress made to snatch loss from the jaws of victory.

  • What did PM Modi say about this victory?

All of these and some more in this latest weekend edition.

"Despite being out of power in many states and at the Centre, the Congress’ situation in Maharashtra is different in the sense that they have a strong cadre on the ground in the state, unlike other states," says Krishna Dange.

"What Congress did to the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Haryana, the BJP did to the Congress in the Vidhan Sabha—that is, they made the elections hyperlocal," says Rohit Pathania.

In this episode of 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨, we discuss:
