Happy Navratri! Read On For Swarajya's Exclusive Navratri Notes!
Dear Reader!
Today marks the beginning of the araadhna of Shakti for nine days in her different forms. Each day of Navratri, a different aspect of Shakti, reminds us of the strength, compassion, and wisdom she brings to our lives.
The goddess worship has existed in various forms and in various places since the dawn of human consciousness.
So, this Navratri we have a special series at Swarajya — Navratri Notes, where Aravindan Neelakandan will write about nine non-Hindu goddesses from outside India every day of this festive season.
Forgotten due to the temporary dominance of jealous sky-bound Gods, She awaits rediscovery, says Aravindan. Navratri Notes is an attempt to explore some of these Goddesses outside India.
We begin with his first piece on Nammu, The Forgotten Serpent-Sea Goddess From Sumeria. Read it here.
Additionally, Aravindan Neelakandan wrote one of the first English commentaries on the Lalita Sahasranama here at Swarajya. And this Navratri, we’ll share one of these commentaries every day.
Start with this one for today: 'The Eyebrows Which Trigger Evolution And Involution Of Worlds'.
🎶 To add to the festive note, listen to this beautiful classic song, Chinnanchiru Penpole by Sirkazhi Govindarajan, imagining Sivakami as a little girl.
Wishing you strength, joy, and blessings this Navratri!

Vidhana Soudha Whispers Suggest Possible 'Fatigue' & 'Internal Sabotage'
In addition to our exclusive Navratri reads and recommendations, here are two insightful stories by my colleagues Abhishek and Sharan.
While all eyes are on Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir polls, there are equally important developments taking place in Bihar and Karnataka.
Abhishek was in Patna at the launch of Prashant Kishore's new political party Jan Suraaj Party. Read his piece to know what we got to know about PK's new political experiment including its structures, procedures, and the road ahead.
In the south, we have Sharan's piece on the whispers of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s possible resignation due to 'internal sabotage'. He contends that CM's ambitious party colleagues seem eager to capitalise on his perceived vulnerabilities.
