  • The police is not ruling out the possibility of questioning the victim’s brother.
  • The alleged gang rape, and murder case of a woman in Hathras saw a new turn on Tuesday. The Call Detail Report (CDR) of the main accused and the victim’s brother show around 100 phone calls made from a phone number registered in the name of the victim's brother and the main accused between October 2019 and March 2020.

This opens up a probability of a link between the accused and the victim's family.

The police is not ruling out the possibility of questioning the victim’s brother.

This report says: "In the light of the latest evidence, highly-placed sources claimed the brother of the 19-year-old victim was allegedly in touch with the accused. However, it is under probe that the person talking to the accused so frequently was the victim’s brother himself or was it someone else. Even the nature of conversation is also believed to be under the scanner."

Here are two points that emerge:

The phone conversations happened between a member of the victim's family and the main accused.

Some of these phone conversations lasted for over 15 minutes. Others lasted for more than 15 minutes.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya has demanded the questioning of the victim's brother. Times Now said on its website: "Allegedly, the brother of the 19-year-old girl was in touch with the accused. Malviya said that the call records open another front in the case. He added that this case might be a result of social enmity."
