Any Religion That Doesn't Give Equal Rights Is As Good As Disease: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge's Tacit Support To Udhayanidhi Stalin?

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has apparently came out in support of Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, following the controversy surrounding his comments about eradicating 'Sanatana Dharma'.

During a media interaction, the Karnataka IT/BT minister stated that in his opinion, any religion that does not promote equality or respect the inherent dignity of every human being cannot be considered a true religion.

"Any religion that does not promote equality or does not ensure you have the dignity of being human is not religion, according to me," Kharge said on Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated' remark.

"Any religion that does not give equal rights or does not treat you like humans is as good as disease," he added.

The statement made by Udhayanidhi Stalin, the DMK youth wing chief and Tamil Nadu Sports Minister, calling for the eradication of Sanathana Dharma from society, citing its alleged contribution to various social issues, has ignited a major controversy, reports Deccan Herald.

The BJP has seized upon his words, labeling it as a "call for genocide" and accusing the opposition alliance of being "anti-Hindu.

At a conference on 'Eradicating Sanatana Dharma From the Society' organised by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers, Artists Association on Saturday (2 September), Udhayanidhi equated 'Sanatana' (Sanatan Dharma) with "mosquitoes, Dengue, Malaria, fever, and Corona", adding that it should be stamped out like these ailments.
