Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Nupur Sharma has said that she is receiving rape, death and beheading threats after 'fact-checker' and co-founder of Alt News Mohammed Zubair allegedly "peddled a fake narrative" against her by sharing an "edited video" of her while speaking in a debate on the Gyanvapi row.
Sharma also shared several screenshots of threatening messages received by her.
"I am getting continuous death and beheading threats against my family and myself which are egged on by @zoo_bear because of his attempts to incite communal passions and vitiate the atmosphere by building a fake narrative," Sharma said in a tweet tagging Delhi police and Commissioner on Friday (27 May).

In another tweet hours later, the BJP leader said that she was being bombarded "with rape, death and beheading threats against my sister, mother, father" and herself.
"I’ve communicated same to Delhi police," she tweeted.
"If anything untoward happens to me or any of my family members, Delhi Police please note wholly & solely Mohammed Zubair is responsible who instead of ‘fact-checking’ peddled a fake-narrative to vitiate the atmosphere, cause communal disharmony & cause communal & targeted hatred against me & my family," she added.
It should be noted that the BJP leader, during a debate on Times Now on the Gyanvapi row said that 'since people are mocking the Hindu faith they could also mock other religions.'
Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair allegedly took the chunk of the video where Nupur Sharma talked about other religions referring to Islamic beliefs, and shared it on Twitter calling her 'communal hatemonger', reports Times Now.
Zubair tweeted an 86-second clip from a television news debate on the Gyanvapi mosque case in which Sharma made a remark on Prophet Muhammad’s marriage.
Meanwhile, Zubair said he’s sure the police will register an FIR against the BJP spokesperson if they see the full video, reports Hindustan Times.
Replying to one of Sharma's tweets from its official handle, Delhi Police said, “The matter has been forwarded to the concerned officials for necessary action. You will be contacted shortly.”
