The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government has announced that they will challenge the decision made by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena to terminate the services of approximately 400 private individuals employed in various departments.

Lieutenant Governor Saxena terminated the services of 400 private individuals who were engaged in different departments of the Delhi government.

The termination comes after concerns were expressed that the appointments made did not adhere to the mandatory reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC candidates, as prescribed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

He cited that the service department found that their engagement was done in a non-transparent manner and without the necessary approval from the competent authority.

In response to the decision, a statement released on Monday (3 July), from the Delhi government said, "The LG is hell-bent on completely destroying Delhi. He chose to punish these 400 talented young professionals only because they chose to associate with the Delhi government. No principles of natural justice were followed when the LG took this decision."

According to the statement, "Not even a single show cause notice was issued, and no explanation or clarification was sought at any stage. This unconstitutional decision will be challenged in court."

The statement further pointed out that, "LG does not have the power to do so. He is acting illegally and against the Constitution. His only purpose is to find new ways every day to paralyse the Delhi government so that the people of Delhi suffer."

"These fellows were from top colleges and universities such as IIM Ahmedabad, Delhi School of Economics, NALSAR, JNU, NIT, London School of Economics, Cambridge, etc. and were doing excellent work in various departments. They were all hired following due process and administrative norms." the statement explained.

The LG's office has revealed that the administrative departments failed to verify the authenticity of work experience certificates provided by private individuals.

It was discovered that many of these certificates had been falsified and manipulated.

If any administrative department deems it appropriate to continue engaging these private individuals, they must submit detailed cases with proper justification to the services department of the Delhi government.

The services department will then forward these cases to the LG for consideration and approval.
