Haryana: Rift In BJP-JJP Alliance? Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala's Comment Sparks Speculation

The strained relationship between the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana was once again evident after the outbreak of violence in the Nuh district.

Dushyant Chautala, the leader of JJP and Deputy Chief Minister, expressed criticism towards the handling of the situation in a statement. The violence has resulted in six deaths and numerous establishments being burnt down.

According to Chautala, the violence occurred due to incomplete information provided by the yatra organisers to the district administration. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the incident.

Chautala's comments regarding the Nuh violence seemed to place blame on the organisers of the religious rally, who have connections to the BJP. This contradicts his partner's stance.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, a member of the BJP, expressed his suspicion of a conspiracy behind the clashes on Monday. He described the incident as unfortunate and claimed that certain individuals conspired to attack the yatra participants and the police, resulting in violence at multiple locations.

Following the violence that resulted in the loss of six lives, including two police home guards, the Chief Minister promised to take strict action against those responsible.

The situation in Nuh has stabilized, and schools, colleges, and workplaces have resumed normal functioning. Additionally, authorities have restored mobile internet services, as per a report by NDTV.

Varun Dahiya, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Crime, urged locals to disregard rumours or misinformation on social media. He assured that all schools, colleges, and workplaces were operating normally, with no restrictions on traffic movement.

Furthermore, the suspension of internet services has been lifted. Dahiya emphasized the importance of not paying attention to social media rumours and encouraged individuals with information to contact the helpline number 112.

The growing tensions between the BJP and JJP have arisen ahead of next year's elections, with both parties remaining non-committal about the continuation of their alliance.

The JJP has expressed discomfort with the BJP-led center's stance on issues like farmers' protests and wrestlers' protests, which directly impact its voter base. In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP fell short of a majority by six MLAs in the 90-member House and sought support from the newly formed JJP.
