The CBI is conducting searches at 12 locations, including the former J&K governor Satya Pal Malik's former media advisor's residence, in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan.
This move comes days after the CBI questioned Malik in connection with alleged corruption case in the Union Territory.
As per the CBI officials the raids held in 10 Delhi and two Rajasthan locations, reports The Indian Express.
The case involves accusations of wrongdoing in an insurance plan with Anil Ambani-led Reliance General Insurance. The case was registered after Malik made allegations of attempts to bribe him in the matter.
Former Governor Malik, was questioned by the CBI at his residence last month for around five hours. This was the second time he faced inquiry from the CBI in the past seven months.
Officials confirmed that he is not an accused or a suspect yet. His statement was recorded in October last year after he finished his gubernatorial responsibilities in Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, and Meghalaya.
“It is unfortunate that the CBI is harassing the complainant in this case. He (Sunak Bali) was my press advisor/secretary in J&K without any government salary,” ANI quoted Malik as saying on Wednesday.
Malik had alleged in October 2021 that he was offered Rs 300 crore in bribes to clear two files, one of which concerned an RSS leader.
In March 2022, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha had described these allegations as serious and stated that the case has been handed over to the CBI for investigation.
