On the second day of his two-day visit to Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Thiruvananthapuram to take part in the launch of several transport and development projects amongst which is launch of the Vande Bharat which would connect the state capital in the south with Kasaragod in the north and the Kochi Water Metro, which would connect the city's many islands.

The day is also coincidentally, the birthday of Adi Shankara, the revered 8th- century Vedic scholar and a proponent of the Advaita philosophy, hailing from the state.

The PM in his address spoke about how the Vande Bharat Express would connect multiple spiritual centres in the state. Among the major temples on the route are Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram and the Guruvayur Temple in Thrissur district.

He also laid the foundation stone for various projects like the Digital Science Park in Thiruvananthapuram, the redevelopment of the Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Varkala Sivagiri railway stations and increasing sectional speed of the Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur section.

He also dedicated the newly electrified Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad rail section to the nation.

On the way to the railway station, a roadshow was conducted in which he greeted people who had gathered to meet him.
