Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have called on Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu after the confirmation of TDP leading in 134 seats in the assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), TDP jointly contested 175 seats in Andhra Pradesh assembly elections with Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party.

Moreover, TDP is leading in 16 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.

However, much to the chagrin of the NDA and BJP, I.N.D.I. Alliance leader Sharad Pawar is also in touch with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, as well as, Janta Dal (United) or JD(U) chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

With trends hinting that the BJP might not cross the simple majority margin of 273 seats, allies like TDP and JD(U) are very important for the BJP and NDA.
