Opposition Alliance Plans No-Confidence Motion Against Modi Government In Lok Sabha: Reports

With the Centre set to make a major legislative push in Parliament in a bid to break through the deadlock in both the houses over the discussion on Manipur, the 26-party opposition alliance 'INDIA' is reportedly preparing to move a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha.

The government does not expect the opposition to back down from their demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the Manipur issue in Parliament.

Therefore, the government will now focus on completing its legislative work. If necessary, bills will be passed amid the uproar, NDTV reported quoting sources.

During a parliamentary meeting of the BJP on Monday (25 July) morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the opposition, reportedly stating that he has never seen such a directionless opposition.

He reportedly mentioned that simply using "India" in a name does not hold any significance, as even the East India Company and Indian Mujahideen have India in their names.

A group of opposition MPs have been sitting in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Parliament House since last night, seeking PM Modi's statement in the Parliament over the Manipur violence.

The Congress party has stated that parliament was unable to function for the third day due to the government's refusal to address the Opposition alliance's demand for a comprehensive statement by PM Modi on the Manipur crisis in both houses.
