Telangana Chief Minister-designate Anumula Revanth Reddy is set to be sworn in as the state's new CM today (7 December) after the party's victory in the recent Assembly elections.
The swearing-in ceremony of the 56-year-old leader is scheduled to take place at Hyderabad's LB Stadium at 1.04 pm today.
A meeting was held by State Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari and DGP Ravi Gupta with senior officials on Wednesday (6 December) to discuss the arrangements for the upcoming swearing-in ceremony. They also visited the venue.
The event is anticipated to draw a crowd of around one lakh people.
Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), along with party leader Rahul Gandhi, are expected to be present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Revanth Reddy noted that a 'people's government' would take office on 7 December, promising to deliver democratic and transparent governance. He extended an open invitation to people to attend the event.
Media reports indicate that Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the Congress MLA-elect and the CLP leader in the previous Assembly, is expected to be sworn in as the deputy chief minister.
D Raja, the General Secretary of CPI, is set to attend the function at the invitation of Revanth Reddy, according to CPI MLA-elect Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao. It's worth noting that CPI was a pre-poll ally of Congress in the recent assembly elections.
The swearing-in ceremony is also likely to be attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar.
Shivakumar was one of the AICC observers appointed by the party leadership to coordinate the CLP meeting in Hyderabad.
State DGP Ravi Gupta said suitable arrangements have been made for traffic and others so that there is minimum inconvenience to the public.
Certain very important persons (VVIPs) attending the event will touch down at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport on the city's periphery, while others will land at Begumpet airport. Provisions for their security will be arranged, he stated.
The AICC leadership on Tuesday named Revanth Reddy as the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and the next chief minister of Telangana.
In the recent Assembly elections, the Congress emerged victorious over the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), securing 64 out of the 119 total seats. Its pre-poll partner, CPI, managed to win one seat.
