Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar will reportedly not attend the Opposition meeting scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from today (17 July).
"NCP chief Sharad Pawar to not participate in the joint opposition meeting in Bengaluru today (17th July)," ANI reported citing spokesperson of Sharad Pawar NCP faction.
Leaders of at least 24 opposition parties will converge at a hotel in Bengaluru on Monday and Tuesday as part of their efforts to present a united front against the BJP-led Central government.
This comes less than a month after 15 parties met in Patna on 23 June.
The political plans to be explored here may reportedly include joint programmes at the national level but possible seat adjustments between the Opposition parties will be left for the respective state units to decide.
According to the tentative schedule, on 17 July, an informal meeting of Opposition leaders is scheduled at 6 pm after which there will be dinner at 8 pm.
On 18 July, the meeting will kick off at 11 am and will continue till 4 pm.
Following this, there will be a press conference in which the campaign strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha election could be announced, reports ANI.
