Smriti Irani explains how the Communists distort the story of Durga and their leaders celebrate ‘Mahisasur Martyrdom Day’. She reads out a statement by the SC, ST, and minority students of JNU on Goddess Durga:
Durga Puja is the most controversial racist festival. The beautiful Goddess Durga is depicted brutally killing a dog skinned native, Mahisasur. Mahisasur, a brave, self-respecting leader, tricked into marriage by the Aryans. They hired a sex worker called Durga, who enticed Mahisasur into marriage, and killed him after nine nights of honeymooning during sleep.
She asks, “Is this the freedom of speech? Who wants to have this discussion on the streets of Kolkata? Will Rahul Gandhi stand for this freedom? After all, these are also students.”
What explains this depraved mentality? The Minister says she doesn’t have any answers.
