On Wednesday (29 November), Hyderabad Police booked Feroz Khan, Congress MLA from Nampally, for allegedly offering Rs 1 lakh to a voter ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections.
ANI in a post on X reported, "A case has been booked against Congress Nampally MLA candidate Feroz Khan for allegedly offering an amount of Rs 1 lakh to a voter. The case has been booked under sections 171C, 188 and 123 RP Act: Hyderabad Police".
The Congress leader is facing charges under sections 171C (related to electoral offences involving threats and inducements to voters), 188 (disobedience to orders duly promulgated by public servants), and 123 of the RP Act (offenses related to corrupt practices during the election period) of the Indian Penal Code, as confirmed by the police.
The voting for the 119-member Telangana Assembly is scheduled for tomorrow (30 November), with the vote counting set for 3 December, alongside four other states — Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.
