Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticised the Congress central leadership in Madhya Pradesh over the Sanatan Dharma controversy.
He stated that India does not belong to Babar and challenged former chief minister Kamal Nath to prove his devotion to Lord Hanuman by setting 10 Janpath on fire, similar to how Hanuman set Lanka ablaze.
During the Jan Ashirwad rally in Vidhisha district, Sarma addressed DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks calling for the eradication of Sanatan Dharma.
Sarma highlighted the statements made by members of the Opposition's I.N.D.I. Alliance, equating the Hindu religion to diseases like malaria.
He criticised the Congress party for making such statements despite knowing that the majority of the country's population is Hindu.
Sarma challenged Rahul Gandhi to remove those individuals from his party who make derogatory statements against Hinduism, suggesting that by doing so, Gandhi can become a leader respected by Hindus.
He also challenged Kamal Nath, urging him to burn 10 Janpath if he truly considered himself a devotee of Hanuman and wanted to take a stand against those who attacked Hinduism.
In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress party has been adopting a Hindutva approach to defend itself against attacks from the BJP, which has consistently portrayed it as an anti-Hindu party.
This includes the state president and chief minister face Kamal Nath presenting himself as a devotee of Hanuman, organising religious events, and erecting a large Hanuman idol in his political stronghold of Chhindwara.
Sarma expressed concern about the Congress party's impact on the Hindu society, questioning why the Ram Mandir was not built during their rule.
He pointed out that Kamal Nath, who claims to be a devotee of Hanuman, should have prioritised the construction of the temple in Ayodhya during his time as a minister in Delhi.
He said “You should not have to wait for Narendra Modi. We removed Babar and today a Ram Mandir is made, Hindu is happy and Muslim is happy. These Hanuman bhakts are scared of Babar."
He further added, "Our demand is only one, this nation is of Ram, Lakshman, Sita. This is not Babar’s nation, and in Ram Janmabhoomi, Babar’s masjid won’t exist. There are many lands in India to make a masjid, but in Ram’s land only Ram Lala will sit, no one else will sit.”
