Union Minister Arjun Munda and former chief ministers Raghubar Das and Babulal Marandi are among the 41 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and workers against whom a first information report (FIR) has been filed in Jharkhand.

They are said to have disobeyed prohibitory orders during a recent secretariat gherao programme by the BJP in state capital Ranchi.

The police employed tear gas, water canons, and lathi charges on Tuesday (11 April) to stop protestors from approaching the secretariat, where Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) had been enforced.

The administration warned that those who violated the order would face consequences.

The FIR was registered at Dhurwa Police Station based on a complaint by the executive magistrate, according to Additional District Magistrate R N Alok.

Munda has called it a "political conspiracy."

The BJP observed a 'black day' on Wednesday (12 April) to protest police baton charges against their workers.

They conducted a symbolic 'funeral procession' of Chief Minister Hemant Soren as a demonstration against police action.

The BJP held their protest march against corruption, unemployment, and poor law and order in the state.
