A video of 10-year boy mouthing hate slogans against Hindus and Christians, during a rally in Kerala’s Alappuzha, has surfaced. The rally organised by SDPI, a political outfit of an extremist Islamic organisation, PFI, showed the young boy raising the slogans calling for the genocide of Hindus and Christians in Kerala.
Known for Violence and Extremism: The rally held on 21 May 2022 was part of SDPI’s “Save the Republic” campaign that started on Republic Day this year. The PFI is an extremist organisation known for indulging in violent acts, especially against political opponents. During a hearing, Kerala High Court observed that there is no doubt that SDPI and PFI are extremist organisations indulging in serious acts of violence. But they are not banned organisations. The Court was hearing a plea by the wife of an RSS worker who was hacked to death in November 2021.
Public Outcry: The viral video caused a public outcry against the state government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for allowing extremist Islamic outfits to indoctrinate children and carry on their activities.
The Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC) issued a statement lashing out at the state government. It said: “Such attitudes that please communal outfits are extremely detrimental to national security and the future of the state. The government must be prepared to treat everyone equally before the law, and to investigate and take action on the more serious crimes with undue importance.”
BJP MP, KJ Alphons, commenting on the video, said that Kerala is a hub of terrorism in the country. SDPI and PFI have been indoctrinating people toward terrorism for many years. He added that both Congress led UDF and Communist-led LDF have been taking their support during elections and letting them off despite serious crimes.
Investigation: The Kerala Police, taking cognisance of the matter, issued an investigation. As per reports, one person has been taken into custody while a case has been registered against PFI Alappuzha district president, secretary and other persons under section 153A of IPC.
Islamic organisations, SDPI and PFI are known for propagating extremist ideology and indulging in violence. However, due to the inaction of the state government, they continue to have a free run.
The viral video of a child raising slogans calling for violence against other religious communities shows the depth to which religious indoctrination has seeped into the society.
